The internet is full of old wives tales and unvetted tips and tricks posted by well-meaning woman trying to help mothers reclaim their pre-pregnancy body without surgery. I spoke with two plastic surgeons about non-surgical and non-invasive procedures that women can use to tighten loose abdominal skin without going under the knife. One surgeon recommended radio frequency using SkinTite,  and another recommended microneedling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Neither recommended ultrasound, which one doctor said actually damages the subdermal layer, and when used on faces one doctor said the treatment could actually preclude a patient from being a surgical facelift candidate in the future. However, both doctors agreed that before starting either treatment, it’s important to consult with a plastic surgeon to get an opinion on whether or not you will significantly benefit from non-surgical options. The danger of going only to a medical spa or dermatologist for a consult is that neither physician would have enough experience to know who is a non-surgical candidate and who definitely needs a tummy tuck due to separated muscles.
